Fees
At Redlands Psychologists, we believe in providing an affordable service for clients and aim to ensure that finances do not prevent someone from being able to access help and support when needed. Our professional body, the Australian Psychological Society (APS) recommends $300 per 50 minute session, however our fees are substantially lower than this.
Medicare Rebates
You may be eligible for a Medicare Rebate for sessions if your GP has referred you on a Mental Health Care Plan. If you are referred by a Psychiatrist or Paediatrician you may also be eligible to receive a Medicare Rebate.
If your GP believes you are eligible for a Mental Health Plan you can receive a Medicare Rebate for up to 10 psychology sessions per calendar year. Your initial referral enables you to have 5 - 6 rebateable appointments. Your psychologist will then suggest you see the GP for a review and referral for a further 5 - 4 sessions if further appointments are needed. A brief progress report must be provided to your referring GP (by your psychologist) for you to be able to obtain additional sessions.
Private Health Insurance Rebates
Depending on your private health scheme, you may be eligible for a rebate under Private Health Insurance (can not to be used in addition to Medicare). If you are using Private Health Insurance the rebate amount will depend on your particular fund.
Bulk Billing
Whilst we are not a bulk billing practice, you may discuss your payment concerns with your psychologist during your first session.
NDIS
Redlands Psychologists is NOT a registered NDIS provider, this means that we are only able to support Self Managed or Plan Managed participants. Inline with the NDIS price guide we charge self managed participants at our normal practitioner rate as below and plan managed participants are charged at the allocated hourly rate listed on the NDIS price list and we reserve the right to increase our fee if the NDIS update their price list.
Updated Fees from July 2024
Please note that fees not paid either in person or via direct debit on the day of appointment will incur a surcharge or be charged at the full NDIS rate (if applicable) unless prior arrangement is made. This includes Telehealth appointments.
All appointments are required to be confirmed with more than 24 hours’ notice for cancelling any appointments, otherwise full fees will apply. Additionally, any unattended sessions will be charged at the full fee rate as no other clients will be able to take this appointment as such late notice. We reserve the right to request a medical certificate for late cancellations.
Clients will be personally responsible to pay any late cancellation or no-show fee’s for any 3rd parties who do not allow claims for these sessions.
Groups
If you participate in one of our group programs, you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate for up to 10 group sessions a year. For more information please see our groups page.
Payments
Payment on the day is required and we will request a deposit for any group bookings to secure your place. We accept cash, EFTPOS or credit cards. As part of our customer service we can lodge your Medicare rebate request on your behalf which means no waiting in queues at Medicare.
However, please be aware that if any questions or problems arise in relation to a claim it is your responsibility to contact Medicare on 13 20 10 to resolve it.
If you have any concerns about finances, please discuss this with your treating psychologist or the Clinic Director.
Our Cancellation Policy
We request that you confirm or cancel your appointment as soon as you are aware that you will or will not be able to attend your session either by replying to a received SMS or phoning the practice on 07-3286 1530 giving at least 48 hours’ notice. Whilst we understand life can be unpredictable, late cancellations and not showing to your appointment means we are often unable to offer this appointment to another client who may be on a cancellation or waiting list for an appointment.
You will charged the full fee for your session if you cancel with less than 48 hrs notice or don't show for an appointment and it is due and payable immediately.
Once a time has been reserved in our system, it is reserved for you unless you notify us otherwise. Whilst every effort is made to remind you prior to an appointment, if you do not receive a message or call from us to remind you, this does not constitute a reason for your non-attending an appointment.
If an appointment is not confirmed, the appointment may be cancelled and charges may apply without further notice.
We certainly understand that you may not be able to keep an appointment due to sudden illness or an unexpected personal emergency. If this does happen to you, please contact us as soon as possible to let us know. You may be asked to supply a Medical Certificate just like you would require for an employer before waiving of any fee.
Remember a late cancelled appointment is a loss to:
- You, as your therapy progress is delayed
- The client who has been waiting to see the psychologist, sometimes urgently.
- The psychologist who spent time preparing for your session
